Dual core running MAME choppy?

Hi guys

I don't know if this is the correct forum to post in but here goes...

Not too long ago, I updated my PC which included a new 4400X2 dual core processer (which upgraded my old 3200+ processer). Just today, I tried running mame (the arcade emulator) but it is very very choppy (even on the less demanding games) - I don't have any problems with any other emulators and was just wondering whether there was a fix for it at all? I couldn't find one after searching but wondering if anybody has any ideas?

Set the program affinity to 1 cpu and see if that helps. Quickest way to see if it's a threading 'problem'.

Have you tried setting mame to use only a single core?

give that a shot. I had some amusing problem with CS when I was using the Dual Core with out the hot fix. Just be careful when you do it!!

Have you installed the winXP dualcore fix.
Found that solved a lot of problems as far as choppyness and speed/slowdown problems caused by a dual core.
