What is the fan like that comes with the dual core retail cpus? Is it the heatpipe jobbie that comes with the FX chips?

Yes. Heatpipes and all. Fan's not as quiet as some aftemarket solutions but it does a good job - I've OC'd my 4400 to 2.6 on stock cooling, rock solid. That said, it's not that loud.

Heatsink is made for AMD by Coolermaster & the fan that they fit is a Delta. :)

Madshrimps did a review of this heatsink & it's on par with a Thermalright XP90.

yeah its not bad at all :) i had one on a +3000 chip that was overclocked to 2.4Ghz and the highest it got to was around 51C under full load (and i didnt have the rest of my case cooling in place then either).

It's is fine to run off the motherboard fan header the fan is temp controlled & Just cos it's made by Delta don't mean it's 2000cfm @ 30 watts :p

The fan 80mm in size.

btw if your getting an FX then it will come with a heatpipe cooler, my 4200 didnt come with the heatpipe cooler! not sure what the 3800 or 4400 comes with one.

all x2's and fx's should come with the gen 2 heatpipe cooler, the fan has a thermostat on it, when this heats up it pushes considerably more air and is much louder, usual delta standards.
The sink is better than quite a lot of heatsinks out there too.:)
