well just reading steams update news and
"This past week we played host to a number of editors from the hardware press to share our plan for taking advantage of multicore CPUs in the next few months. Bit-Tech and ExtremeTech have posted their recap of the event so far, and there should be stories showing up at other outlets over the next few weeks. "

so will this give u a huge boost in fps ? or just another gimic by valve ?

I'd imagine you'd see more performance stability i.e. fps doesn't dip so badly in places - than an outright performance boost... that being said - the rig in my sig could run CS:S at 1280x everything maxed and cap the fps limiter solid and bench the video stress test at almost 300fps.

if u dont mind me asking

Rroff if u dont mind me asking how mytch did your rig cost to build including p+p and vat

I don't see the point of pure multithreading for CS:S. Its not as if dual core computers actually need a performance boost for this particular game, is it?

It's always nice to get that extra few fps though if your processor can do it, else you're just wasting its potential really. It's more for the Source engine anyway than specifically CS:S, so we'll see more graphical detail and effects coming into future Source games like Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Three, Team Fortress 2 and Portal.
