dual cpu c2d motherboards?

AMD i think are the only ones that do a dual cpu mobo for their FX-72 Quad Core, the motherboard and cpu's alone cost almost one grand  Its not wirth it

yep theyre workstation boards and use xeon processors, usually looking at around £200+ for the motherboard, then the ram (which is usually non standard ddr2 etc) plus 2x 51xx/53xx (iirc the coding) series cpu's.
Total outlay, usally around £1500-1800 for a bottom end one :)

Alternatively just buy a mac pro with the dual quads :)

lsg1r is quite right. Only Xeons support more than one chip per motherboard.

A Mac Pro or perhaps a Dell Precision 690 would probably be the cheapest and most accessible way to get into dual quads, judging from some research into high-end workstations I've done lately.

Intel are working on skulltrail, a desktop variant of dual cpu server systems.

Should be considerably cheaper than the server variant and not lock you into server hardware such as ecc ddr2

That is two dual core's to create a last second quad core system and it is slower and less efficient than a qx6700, not two quads.
