dual display and games

i've got my dual monitors all set up now, and i am wondering about games. i've tried playing call of duty 2 on one screen, but when i paused the game to move my mouse to the other screen i couldnt without having to close the game.

is there a way of playing a game and being able to pause it on one display, and move the mouse to the other to look on the net, or download something or to talk on msn? or am i just being too demanding?

how is it best to do dual screens? via dualview or span? im using span at the mo to try it, it works well for my desktop wallpaper etc, but when i just played star wars empire at war, it used both as one screen.
