Difficult to know where to post this...

I have my PC connected via display port to a 165hz 1440p monitor and also a HDMI cable running to the family TV which is 4K 60hz.

Is there a way to easily decide which display I want to use for a game and the game automatically detect the native resolution?

So far I am having to mess around with starting pic picture mode to launch games onto my TV for certain games, and launching games normally for my 165hz 1440p monitor, but still don't know how to easily switch between the 2 and have them running at full res without manually switching

Windows Key + Shift + Left or Right Arrow Key

If that doesn't work because you're playing in full screen try going into the Windows settings and select which monitor is monitor 1 first would be my guess.

Yeh that moves the game to the other display when in borderless or windowed mode however doesn't change the res to the native of that display.

Rocket League for example, launch game, runs at 1440p, windows shift to my 4k display and it continues to run at 1440p regardless of whether I full screen or run in borderless. I can't even choose 4k from the settings lol

Probably a Windows feature :)

How about if you select which is your main monitor in Windows settings first before launching the game?

If I change the monitor I want to play on to my primary display it gives me the option to select 4k in game but still requires a manual change each time I swap the game from one display to the other to play on native res. Would be nice for the game to auto detect the native res but I don't think I'm going to win with that, I've been searching all night for a resolution and doesn't look promising.

Thanks for responding anyway

no probs, i don't think Windows is very good with that use case. I came across this which looked interesting in terms of adding some shortcuts...

Some games can set this within the game - Doom and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw come to mind - but for others you have tyo change the main display in Windows before launching the game.
