Dual Fuel Barbeques

Hi All,

I've got a nice but simple barbeque that I've had for a few years. I love cooking with charcoal so I really don't want to give that up. I'm looking for a barbeque where I can use gas if it's just an improptu evening and don't want to wait for the charcoal to heat but I also want to have to option of putting an extra metal plate in or something so that I can cook with charcoal in the normal way.

This doesn't seem like rocket science to me but a small amount of research is making me think that it would be easier to adapt a gas barbeque than to find what I want from a shop or online. Can anyone help or offer suggestions? Max budget is £200 and I don't want 2 barbeques taking up space.

i've got both, but maybe just get a piece of metal to replace the lava rock baskets with?

just get some throaway barbeues and set them ontop the the real thing

Just get a charcoal chimney, fast even lit charcoal. And cheaper than a new BBQ.

Agree with the chimney suggestion, used one last week for the first time and it saved loads of time.

Brilliant. I saw one of these earlier but wondered if it'd be any good. How long did it take before the charcoal was ready to cook with?

20 - 25 minutes in my experience but obviously it depends on quality/type of charcoal you use.
