Dual Full-Screen RDP

Hi guys,

Basically, I have two computers, right next to each other, that I wish to use on the one pair of dual monitors and mouse/keyboard. So basically like a KVM switch, but software.

RDP seemed like the way to go with this, however I have hit a brick wall in that my two monitors are different resolutions, following advice it seemed that SplitView is used for this stuff, though having installed it and further reading through the docs it says that it's best if they're the same height, otherwise you'll get a strip of unused screenspace on the taller.....

Erm.

What.

Surely there's a decent way to basically set up a kvm switch through software. KVM switch would be annoying for a few reasons: expensive, would need to be a dual monitor and dual usb switch, and I've used usb switches before and there's a lag in going from one to the other. Also, I wish to be able to trigger the switch from keyboard/mouse.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks for reading.

may help you out?

Synergy is Free and Open Source Software that lets you easily share your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers, where each computer has its own display. No special hardware is required, all you need is a local area network. Synergy is supported on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy is released under the GNU Public License (GPL).

edit: actually just re-read your requirements. doesn't appear like it will. maybe a usb kvm and use the 2 analogue inputs for one pc, and then 2 dvi inputs for the other pc?

Thanks, though I'm already aware of Synergy. Masterful app that it is, I want to share the monitors as well, and at least when I used it Synergy relies on you having separate monitors for each machine.

Hmmm, I may be being a retard, but I don't think that's what I'm looking for? It seems just to be something to move windows around?

Hmm. Tried it out and got somewhere, but not far enough..

I can now stretch out the RDP over both monitors, though I get the usual windows gash around the edges, and if I try to stretch it all the way to the top of the larger one, it snaps down to small size again. And for some reason now the top bar of RDP window won't even go away in fullscreen. I just want all of the pixels of both screens to be in RDPland.... Surely there's a better way to do this...
