Hi,

Just a really quick question regarding Dual-Link DVI-I on graphics cards.

I need to purchase a few cheap cards with Dual DVI Output. Looking at pictures of this card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-259-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1985
It looks like there is only one DVI output, but the description says 'Dual-Link DVI-I'. It's only DVI and not HDMI I'm after. Is some sort of splitter included or am I not understanding what Dual-Link DVI-I is?

Dual link is just a DVI connector with more pins used for higher bandwidth so it can support higher resolutions such as 2560x1440 or 2560x1600. It can also support lower resolutions @ 120Hz.

If you want graphics cards with 2 DVI outputs then that's different from dual link DVI.

You need to buy cards which have 2 actual DVI connectors.

What are you trying to run from each card?

Thanks for replying. I knew I was looking at things wrong.

I'm after a low profile card that don't need powering that will output to 2 DVI monitors. Just standard dual screen. The current HP PC's we are using only have the 1 output with the on board GPU.

Edit.
would somethign like this somehow allow Dual output to 2 monitors, but only using a HDMI to DVI Converter?

You should be able to run 1 monitor DVI to DVI and 1 monitor HDMI to DVI.

Have you considered the HD 5450 cards for less than £25? See here.

They appear to be low profile but check the specific models to see if they come with a low profile bracket.

I assume you're only using monitors around 1080p as that's all the HDMI will support.

HDMI to DVD adapters might not fit on the cards due to the closeness of the connectors but you can get HDMI to DVI cables which would be easier to use.

Alternatively a lot of DVI monitors may have an HDMI input as well.
