Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can explain the difference between these two connections in terms of which is better please?

Can they both do 2560x1600 and 120Hz?

I see a lot of people miffed about the lack of Dual Link DVI on the 7970 Lightning for instance and wondered if the Display Port could do the same if you had a monitor with a Display Port?

At the moment I have a Dell U2311H which has a DVI-D and Display Port so was also wondering which is the best to connect with?

Not a huge amount of difference on paper tho displayport is supposed to be the better featured and newer tech.

From my experiences I've found dual link DVI a lot more reliable and better supported, DP especially seems to be very fussy about the quality and length of the cables used.

Thanks Rroff, as far as the higher resolutions are concerned at the moment these seem rather expensive displays. There don't seem to be many 120Hz or higher and DVI-D seems to be more common place than Display Port from what I see so far.

It seems as though the high resolutions and higher refresh rates are less main stream than the card connections.
