Rather basic question this, but how do I set an application to open on a specific monitor in a dual monitor setup?
Not all apps open on the same screen each time.

Andrew

I think you can use UltraMon for this.

What I do is, open the app, 'restore' the app, move to the other screen. Maxmise app. Close app. Re-open app and it remembers it.

Thanks.
I will look at ultramon although I was hoping for native support in Vista. I had thought as suggested it should be monitor 1 as default but for some reason some apps open on monitor 2 all the time.

With Ultramon installed if you right click > properties a shortcut there is a new tab called "Ultramon - Window". Here you can pick default monitor, position etc.

I'm pretty sure that Vista does store information such as which monitor Apps. were last on as I do have ultramon, but only taskbar is running, I doubt that will be storing the information for me. But things like WLM, Winamp and Internet explorer, all automatically open on my 2nd screen where as Opera, photoshop and other applications open on my main monitor.

is it possible to make VMC appear on a Second monitor using Ultramon (or similar)??..

I have a 1080p HP Laptop (see my Sig) connected to my LCD TV over HDMI, at the mo I'm just cloning the Laptops screen on the TV, but I'd like to be able to work on the Laptop and have 'Vista Media Centre' playing a Video, Music or TV on the main screen..

Cheers

Have you tried extending your desktop to that monitor and then just loading up VMC on that monitor?

Tried it, it worked.. sort of!.. the VMC window was on the TV (second Monitor) but I couldn't move my mouse out of the window back to the other Screen!..

So thats a bust!.. :(
