Hey guys, I'm running Vista atm, and connected my 2nd monitor to this laptop, and clicked shut off this screen when external monitor is connected. Now it's just 2 totally black screens when I connect the monitor. Is there any way that I can change it to mirror or extend the desktop to the 2nd monitor?

Bare in mind that when the monitor is connected I cannot see anything whatsoever!

With just the laptop it's self can you see the laptop screen?

Why do you want to shut off the first screen? (Laptop).

Go into personalize, Display settings, and then uncheck the use second monitor, reboot, reconnect second monitor and then go back to display settings and go to extend view onto this monitor.

Should be good to go?

Yeah, when the other monitor is disconnected I can see everything fine. As soon as I put in the dsub it all goes blank on both monitors.

I originally wanted to shut off this screen cause it's 15.6" and the 2nd monitor is 27" and it looks well out of proportion when I use both.

I'm gonna try your idea now :)

I can't actually see the "use second monitor" bit. I can see the "extend onto this display" bit though. That's unchecked now. When I rebooted, I could attach the 2nd monitor, but it would only show on my laptop screen. As soon as I logged in, the monitors went blank again!
