Dual Monitor Nvidia problem. Geforce 9800GT

Hi,

I have a Geforce 9800GT and a dual monitor setup running windows 7. Whilst working one of my monitors just switched off.

I have tested both monitors and they both work individually but when plugged in together, only one will work.

Another thing, in the Nvidia control panel, the second monitor is listed as connected via VGA (rather than DVI). Both monitors are connected with DVI leads to DVI ports (no adaptors). I have also tried a third monitor so I can presume it is not the monitors.

In an attempt to fix this I have just installed the latest Nvidia drivers (296.10) but no change.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a software solution?

I am thinking the graphics card is on its way out, it has crashed a couple of times when playing Starcraft2 with a the setting above "none".

So if it is dying... What would be a good replacement (ie same performance). I do not need much graphical power, just two dvi/hdmi ports, price is the main thing. In itially I an thinking of getting anoth 9800 but think it would be better to get something more modern for under £50.

Cheers!
