Dual Monitor Question

Dear All,

I have a question regarding a dual monitor setup I have planned.

I have a 24" Samsung running off a HIS Radeon 3870 512MB through DVI.

I plan to purchase another 24" Samsung and run a dual monitor setup (through Ultra Monitor).

If was to say:

Play CS:S on monitor 1 and play a DVD on monitor 2

Is this possible?

I think the main concern would be the sound.

Can anyone advise please?

Any information would be most appreciated.

I have the following PC spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
Corsair DHX 4GB DDR2 PC6400
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R (using onboard sound)
HiS Radeon HD 3870 512MB
Samsung SyncMaster 245B
1.9TB HDD (All Samsung)

Multiple fullscreen applications are tricky at the best of times, and I'm unfamiliar with ATi's drivers...but my experience is it's hit and miss depending on which applications you're talking about. You might be able to have the DVD maximised (not fullscreen) on one screen and CSS fullscreen on the other, but you may find you have sync issues on the DVD.

The only fully reliable way is to have the DVD playing from a separate source...could you pick up a cheap DVD player and switch sources on the 2nd screen?
