What would OcUK recommend? Mainly for work use, spreadsheets 90% of the time, and some light photo editing. Driven by a 2015 13" rMP from the two thunderbolt ports in clamshell mode.

Looking around the £300 mark. The best option I've come across so far are a couple of Dell P2317h.

Have toyed with the idea of a cheap 4k 40 inch TV and an active DisplayPort to HDMI cable but not convinced it will be foolproof enough.

Dell makes some good monitors. The Dell S2418H (InfinityEdge) is also looking very nice. In your price range you don't have an amazing amount of choice to be fair, but regardless of which monitor you decide to go with there is one thing you need to be aware that is Mac specific.

Get a monitor with a standard RGB subpixel layout. While windows allow for adjustment if you end up with a BGR panel (ClearType) macOS, so far at least, does not.

Hope that helps.
