Dual Monitor Setup Question

this is probaly a dumb question but i couldnt really find a straight answer online and this is my first time doing any kind of multi monitor setup so im not really sure how it all works

the main monitor will be for gaming, 1080p 144hz gsync TN panel

the secondary monitor will be for content creation and non gaming media, 1080p 60hz non gsync IPS panel

my question is will it be fine using monitors together that have different refresh rates, gsync and no gsync, different connections (display port for gsync monitor HDMI for IPS monitor) and different panel types TN and IPS or will it be likely to cause issues?
also i was wondering if i would have any in game performance loss from having a second monitor running?
one more silly question, i will be using a SLI graphics setup so do i plug both monitors into 1 GPU or 1 monitor per GPU?

like i said at the start probaly dumb questions but i want to be sure everything is fine before i pull the trigger on this
thanks :)

Hey

Not dumb questions at all, if you haven't done it before you wouldn't know :)

Different connection types and monitors are fine. I was using a 144hz gsync etc monitor through displayport alongside a normal 60hz panel through DVI with no issues. I'd imagine if you tried spread the game across 2 monitors then you could run into issues but other than that its fine.

If you are running SLI then the monitors must be connected to the first/top card. If you try and use one off the 2nd card a message would display telling you this.

No performance loss from 2 monitors either (unless you game across both) . If there is then it must be very minor as I've never noticed a difference

Hope this helps :D
