I am trying to get dual monitor support working on a Dell Optiplex - it has 2 video output - onboard and ad ATI graphics card

In Windows when I select extend my desktop nothing appears on the secondary monitor

In the BIOS I have ensured multiple monitor support is enabled, updated graphics drivers to latest version, ensure resolution on both monitors is the same but still no luck

does the second monitor power on at all or is it always in standby mode?

I have a old Lenovo PC that auto disables the on board card when you connect a PCIE card in

Does the ATI have two outputs? If not, replace it with one that does.

Many OEM (Dell, HP etc) motherboards won't allow onboard video AND graphics card to work together.

as Bleed says most GPUs these days have multiple display ports on them.

connect them both to the ATI card if possible and should sort the issue
