Hopefully a quick question.

In gnome I have an application set to automatically load in Sessions -> Startup Programs. Is there a way to set the program to start on my second monitor not my primary monitor (it is VirtualBox)

Secondly, is it possible to hide an application from the Gnome taskbar?

devilspie can position windows (and remove decoration if required) based on a number of window/program properties, and it can also mark it for exclusion from the taskbar application list.

Compiz can also perform most of these actions, but is less configurable (the "window rules" and "put" plugins)

Thanks, I almost have it working.
Hiding it from the taskbar is working, but using the Place Windows (Put looks like it is manual positioning rather than automatic) doesn't work.

I can position the window vertically fine, but trying to set the horizontal position so that it would be on the right screen makes the window stuck on the right hand side of the left screen.
So, I have a 1920x1200 screen and a 1280x1024 screen with the 1280x1024 on the right. Setting the X position of a window to >1920 (so it should appear on the right screen) causes the window to be on the far right of the left screen instead.

[edit] Nvm I got it, the screen had to be set up as 3200x1200+0+0 instead of 1920x1200+0+0 and 1280x1024+1920+88

[edit2] That doesn't work, now it maximizes windows over both screens.

If it maximizes over both screens, try rebooting or fiddle with nvidia-settings... I had that problem before myself.
Strange nvidia bug me thinks.
