Dual monitors but not for gaming

[Predicament]

When I build my new computer in April, I am going to buy a Iiyama ProLite 24".

If i want to use my old dell 17" monitor with it (so i can do work etc.) is there a way I can do so but only use the 24inch for games. Basically, will I have to unplug the second monitor every time i start up a game?

The games will start on whatever you set as your primary monitor, unless you configure something fancy like eyefinity or along those lines I think.

If you are using windows 7 simpl put no. I asked similar question few weeks ago, press windows key and p and you can select your screen mode. When I am gaming i just switch to monitor only and turn second screen off.

Aye, no need to unplug.

The game will run on the primary monitor so depending on the game you can have
a map up on the second screen or for shoot'em ups etc best turn off the second monitor as Greboth mentions
