Hi guys,

Ordered a second monitor in order to go for a dual-screen setup and wondered if I'll still be able to get the benefit of crossfire?

Regards Jamie.

You get the benefits of CrossFire but only when running games full screen.

Are we back to the question about running different games on different screens?

You're welcome.

FYI just so you know if this'll work for what you're trying to do:

1) If the graphics cards are in CrossFire then both monitors have to be connected to the first card.

2) You can set up an extended display for desktop use and then run games in full screen on one monitor.

3) If you're running a game full screen on one monitor then I believe the second one gets blanked out.

4) You can set up Eyefinity with two monitors and run a game across both but you might not want this as with a typical dual monitor layout you'd have the bezels in the middle of your field of vision where the crosshair in shooter games would be.

That's fantastic thanks a lot once again. That covers everything, now I'm really excited for when it arrives :) ... I don't think I'd bother with Eyefinity as like you said, the screen borders would interfere, when there are screens that are 'border-less' then we're talking :P

Correction on 3) playing full screen will not blank out the extended monitors, they stay fully active.

I thought that too, it was the case a couple years back, but someone a month ago proved me wrong. Nice to see Crossfire getting over this problem.

I think its more likely confusion of when running CF and having the other monitors on the secondary card which will blank out that screen.

On my 3870s it was no issue for 2 screens and CF, it may of been an issue with the 1900xt with the CF dongle.

I didn't think monitors worked when connected to the secondary card?

Is that not true either?

If your in CF mode Monitors on the secondary card will not work at all.
Monitors on the secondary card only work when CF is disabled and also they do not blank out when playing full screen.

Edit: There's more.

I have 3 monitors on the primary and the 50" pioneer KURO on the secondary card, if i disable CF the KURO then comes to life, if i want to game on the KURO in CF mode i have hotkeys to make it the primary and enable CF which then swaps cards around because the card with the primary display becomes the primary card and my 3 monitors are now on the secondary card, thus they blank out because im in CF mode, if i play on the KURO in non CF mode then all 4 screen stay active and vice versa.

As I thought then.

I think I misunderstood what you were saying in your previous post.
