Hi,

I have a spare 15" Dell monitor lying around that came free with an old PC, it displays @ 1024 x 768 (4:3).

My main current monitor is a Samsung 23" @ 1920 x 1080.

My questions are: Can I use both of them in dual mode?
And do you think I'll benefit?

PS: My graphics card is an ATI 6870

Cheers! :)

Yes you can use both, and I used to do the same.
I put the taskbar on the smaller screen to get more room on my main monitor and then use the smaller monitor for Music Players / IMs whilst the main screen did work/browsing the web etc.

Nice, that's exactly how I was hoping it to work!

Does doing this use a lot of system resources?

I used to use a lower res 2nd monitor to watch training videos while I work on the main monitor worked out pretty good.

I have a 1080p and 720p monitor, it works fine although it can get a little annoying as the size of a window will not match up with the one next to it!

Other than the fact you'll spend ages trying to find background that looks good going across both screens it will be fine.

Warning though, you will not want to go back once you get used to using dual screens! :p
