Dual Monitors for Laptop

I'd like to setup dual monitors on my laptop but not sure how to get what I need

I don't want to use the laptop monitor.
I have two separate monitors.
the laptop has one VGA port
the USB ports all seem to be usb2.0

I bought a little USB to VGA adapter but it only supported up to 800x600 on usb2.0, meaning everything was huge on the second widescreen monitor

any other means to get this working?

Feasibly your only likely solution is something like matrox dualhead2go (analog version).

I think it could be a dead end for me. its a work laptop and they probably wont spend that sort of money to help a hard working employee out

Depending on the laptop there may be a docking station available for it. We had Dell Latitude laptops at work with docking stations which added 2 DVI ports for multi display capability.
