Hi,

I have an old PC running Fedora 23 ,display to an old 17" tft monitor.
All good and fine until I introduce a 40" HD TV as a second monitor when the only resolution the linux display function will let me choose is 1920x1080 5:4 where I need 16:9 for the larger screen.

I'm only a casual linux user so I am not aware if there are any applets or ways and means to get the OS to display to both monitors in 16:9 and would very much appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction please.

The graphics card is a Radeon 4900 basic model I think and has HDMI out to the TV and VGA to the monitor.

Thanks.

No help for this one?

I'm beginning to think I need a native 1920x1080 16:9 monitor to pair with the HD TV screen.

No idea if an open source driver is available for your card, however have you tried installing the proprietary drivers if you haven't got those already? Multiple monitor configurations shouldn't be anything special unless there is some specific issue with your monitor.
