I want duel monitors but i dont have the desk space to have them side by side. So im thinking about either getting another 22" and putting it above my current 22" but im worried about my neck aching looking up?

Or i could keep my current 22" and get a small 19" monitor or somthing......

What you think?

Side by side is the only way forward in my opinion. Is there any particular reason you want another monitor? If there isn't, just get a slightly smaller one that does fit?

side by side, there's a reason people do this and it's because we have better horizontal peripheral vision than vertical - plus the neck strain situation. The only time people have them one of top of each other is if they've got 4 (2x2).

Multiple monitors of different sizes don't work too well. I have a 24" as my main monitor and occaisionally use my 19" hdtv as a secondary-moving boxes to a screen of different size get very frustrating, and it's very difficult to get it working in linux with ATI drivers.
Definitely go for two of the same size-try and fit them side by side if possible, this is much more useful.

i don't know what sort of problems you're having, but multiple monitors of different sizes (a 24" and a 15") on Windows XP with ultramon is excellent, just as having two 17" monitors was, about 2 years ago

Like the above are saying keeping monitors the same size is easiest.
Getting a bigger desk may be something to look into if you are serious about dual monitors, I know I needed to when I got mine

i use 2x 17"s at the moment side by side and its the only way for me now as i run a music production app stretched across both screens, i tryed using dif sizes but its no good for me as the program window only stays as big as it is on the smaller monitor if that makes sense!

I have no problem using two diff size monitors -> a 17" and a 20" or a 19" and a 22" fit nicely next to each other and windows has no problem with the different resolutions. EDIT: 4:3 17" or 19" that is, not widescreen.

Been doing this for years, i had one 18.1" LCD and a 17" LCD, did my tree in due to the screen size difference, then went to two 17" LCD's then two 19" LCD's now i have two 22" widescreens and it works a treat, its much better to keep the aspect and res the same.

That just about works because the vertical resolutions are similar (1680x1050 and 1280x1024, only 26 pixels different), but if you run 1680x1050 next to a 1024x768 screen, or 1920x1200 next to 1280x1024, the difference can be very confusing when moving from one to the other.

Using 19" monitor and 13" laptop screen setup at work and not too confused tbh, tho obviously it looks better having 2 identical screens :p

i want too do something similar i want to get a 24" monitor but i also have a 19" monitor both widescreen and i want to wall mount my 24 above my 19 and only use the 24 for some things and the 19 on others is there a way of switiching between without having to change over cables and things?

The only time I've ever seen this is in military computer stations and the like, where there is a main display which is the interactive one and an auxiliary display up above which is displaying mostly status information. The latter is only glanced at occasionally. Using it as a genuine two-monitor system would be a pain in the neck, literally.
