Dual Monitors what do you use for?

I know have on OCUK 24" sat alongside my Dell 2405

So is it worth having dual monitors or should i get rid of one?

What hit will having 2 monitors have on the Graphics card? 8800GTS

IE can you game on one and have internet on the other ?

Are NVidia's drivers ok with 2 monitors or do you really need an app such as Multimon ?

While you're gaming fullscreen on one screen you can't interact with the anything on the other using the mouse. You would have to run your game in a window. You can game on both at the same time though using a single desktop, or some games support dual screens (flight sim, supreme commander etc). The main use for 2 screens is just having a lot of desktop space for multiple apps though.

I've had dual screens setup myself and TBH it just felt like a waste of electric to me, but some people love it.

Anyway since you already have the two screens, why not just try it.
 
I use mine to check on the players in my gameserver whilst im playing, i still have to alt + tab to interact with the app but i can see everything as it happens
 
I use it as above to check stuff while I'm playing games - I can see who's in TS and things and who's signed into MSN or whatever on the 2nd monitor.

I also use my 2nd monitor to browse the web and such while Media Centre's full screen on the other monitor - right now I'm watching Boundin' fullscreen on the other monitor and I've got MSN, Firefox on this here portrait 17 incher.

Yep for debugging two screens is great! The editor that I use (eclipse) allows decoupling of windows so I have everything spread over two screens. Makes life so much easier.
 
when i got my 20 inch, added my old 17 for jokes. it actually came in handy ie dragging windows out of the way etc. more desktop space, and if you do any sort of academic work you might agree that you would need to have several windows open at the same time, (i.e. having several books open at same time) here is a pic (i know its rubbish but thats because they dont match :( still looks nice though) :D

I now have three screens, its invaluable as I need the screen real estate for my 3D work. I have yet to try a game in it though, I have tried FPS games on two but struggled because the aim is interuppted by the bezel no matter how thin it is it just hard to focus.
 
I have two 22" LG Widescreens and I use one for wow and the other for watching stuff or looking up stuff on the net. When not gaming I often use one of documents and the other for websites. Having media player open on one and folders/web browser on another is quite handy.
 
Firefox and photoshop on one monitor, thunderbird on the other - as well as MSN and all that :)
If I'm gaming I might put some hardware monitoring apps on the other monitor.

Well worth having dual monitors if you ask me. I don't think there is a drop in performance by having them either.
 
I generally use one for WoW and have the other for firefox/winamp/ventrilo/MSN and Windows Media when I'm afking in AV :)

It might possibly be slight overkill to have 2 22" Dells, but I couldn't have it any other way - hoping to get the same setup at work now.

The only downside is that very few games have full DS compatability -whenever I start something like CS/CoD4, the other screen becomes unusable. Shame :(
 
For programming it's invaluable. Had 3 monitors at my previous workplace - 24" dell flanked by 2x 20" dells. Email on left monitor, Visual Studio on the center with the tool / debug / output windows and applications on the third monitor - very productive! Boss had about 5 monitors though, must've been making up for something :D
