Quite intruiged by the concept of these. First looked into it with the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo and the more recently the tuned down standard Zenbook Duo.

I have just seen the Zephyrus Duo which looks insane!

Is anyone thinking about these?

My daily work involves a lot of tabs open for data analysis and report creation / tracking and having a mobile device with such versatility seems like a no brainer.

Having the extra horsepower will do nicely to as my current Huawei Matebook Pro is starting to suffer despite being the top spec i7 16gb variant.

What are the general thoughts? Next step in laptops or just a fad that will fade?

Yep as I said, that's the one that piqued my interest.

Have a look at the links below for the Zephyrus Duo

Can you not use an Android tablet as a second screen, or indeed one to the may portable USB screens?

That would probably work but I quite like the idea of an all in one. Particularly now as the amount of conference calls I seem to be on throughout the day is getting tedious. More screen real estate means I can be more productive!

I would love for these laptops to come with the new Ryzen chips as the Intel ones seem to be taking a panning right now.
