Dual screen problems

Hi all,

I've been using a 34 inch ultrawide with 3070FE for the last couple of years with no issues at all. Recently, I added a portrait 24' second screen, and since then it's been very unstable. I notice this especially when I try to watch a video on the second screen while gaming etc. There is often stuttering and sometimes artifacting. Restarting the game or the PC tend to sort out the problem but it's getting more frequent.

Just want to ask if anyone has any ideas? Is it just the graphics card being asked to do too much?

Is it worth getting a second cheap graphics card to run the second screen? Or would it be possible to run it off my iGPU on my 7950x?

Igpu on 7950x seems like the easiest solution but it shouldn't really be a problem in the first place.

Are you running an undervolt on the 3070?

No, never did anything to the 3070, everything at stock.

Have you tried removing the driver with DDU then re-installing it?
what do you mean by the DDU, you mean the NVidia drivers?

It might just be an nvidia problem, I've ran 2 screens for a number of years now, but since upgrading my main screen to the Alienware OLED playing a game on it and watching youtube on the other screen regularly causes the system to hard lock. If you have the same game and youtube side by side on the same screen it isn't a problem. My previous main screen was 4K, this one is 3440x1440 so i don't think there is an increased demand for my ageing 1080ti. GPU usage around 70-80% when hard lock occurs, but can play games using 98%+ constantly with no issues. Nothing i've tried has fixed the problem.

When I used a 3070 I ran a UW 34"and a 27"without issue. Both using DP.
As well as trying what has been posted try alternative ports on the card.
Also are you using G-sync on both or either, if you do disable that.

I am now using a 4080 with a 4k as primary and the same 27" as secondary at 1440p, no issues.

Are you using a vertical mount for your GPU, longshot I know.?

DDU is a piece of software that completely removes the NVIDIA drivers. It's always a good idea to try it, if you are having weird issues.

So I reinstalled a fresh windows and it still didn't work.

I then used DDU and it magically fixed everything - was running main screen off the 3070 and the second screen off the iGPU, all worked fine.

Turned it off last night then back on today - second screen not working again and AMD synapse giving errors... sigh.

Actually seems to be ok now running both off the 3070 after another re-install and turning off G-Sync. Still errors every time I plug in the iGPU though.
