Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on this problem one of my colleagues is having.

- E6650 @ 2.33Ghz,
- 2gb Ram,
- Radeon HD 2400 Pro.
- 2 x 'Hanns-G' 19" LCD monitors.

He extends his desktop across both monitors with a splitter cable (both running at 1280x1024 )but all of a sudden, the primary screen viewable area is displaying only 1024x768 of the resolution expected. i.e. you can scroll off screen & the desktop scrolls to the 1280 resolution.

I thought this "virtual desktop" type view was when you set windows to a resolution higher than the screen could take. When you look in display manager, the resolution is set correctly.

After looking for a software setting to force this view (found none!) I swapped the cables to prove it was not the screens.

Any ideas? I'm thinking reinstall video drivers?

Thanks
Dan

Had a problem like this on uncles comp.

Basically look through the ATI control panels (CCC) and there was an option for something along the lines of "Screen max resolution" set it to 1280x1024 and then it shouldn't scroll off the screen.

Apologies for the slight vagueness, was a while ago and the drivers were pretty old on the machine, so I'm not sure if the options will still exist.
