Dual screen setup, Horizontal tearing in games

Hi guys,

Just after abit of help really as i'm abit annoyed that im getting a few problems with my new card + setup.

In Some games, say crysis maxed out, It doesnt seem to play that well and i was hoping to play it maxed out

I get tearing right down the middle of the screen (horizontal), during cut the scenes and playing the game in general.

Also bad company 2 maxed out doesnt seem to play that smoothly, it doesnt seem to install correctly and seems corrupted.

i'm installing it on my second hdd not my primary.
my specs are

I5 750
4gb ram
ATI 5870 powercolour pcs+.

I use a dual screen setup with a CRT (1024 x 768 85hz ) on my left and a viewsonic 22" 1080p @ 60hz on the right.

Some games now i play on my bigger monitor, so i use ultramon and switch the primary to my viewsonic so games load on that screen ect.

Its just a pain as i dont think i can really take a picture of it. I'm pretty sure its not the monitor. Just dont know what it is.

Also when coming out of a game into desktop, if i have firefox on my crt, the screen will tear / flicker aswell.

So any advice?

Dont think there is any point putting v sync on crysis is there? my fps will be too low for it to keep up with the 60hz no ?

So yeah i was looking to buy this card to run all / most games maxed out 1080p like everyone says you can !

i'm on the latest drivers, monitor drivers ect ect.

Are both screens set to 60Hz, or is the CRT at 85Hz? You could give Vsync a go, i would prefer slowdown to tearing.

the crt is @ 85hz and the other one is @ 60hz, yeah i can see what your saying. But it just annoys me, as i shouldnt have to !

Yeah, i'm not sure if the frequency difference would matter, but it is easy to change, and worth a shot. If you are hovering around 30fps in crysis, vsync may not cause much slowdown at all (i think).

i'll give it a try, read somewhere on the internet last night that it could be an issue with the AA applied. so i'll try turning that off
