Hey all,

After being stuck with one monitor for a few months, I have finally moved my pc and have room for a second monitor again! Unfortunately I got rid of my old one so I currently only have 1. It is a 24" Digimate screen. I think the same as the OcUK value one was(at least a year/year and a half ago anyways).

I used to have 2x 19" widescreens of generic crappy quality. The monitor I have now is much better than they were. I'm looking for a second monitor to go with it but don't know if I should go for another 24" or maybe a 20-22" monitor. I'll be mostly using the 2nd monitor for browsers/msn and I guess a movie or two for while I'm playing games. Either way nothing too intensive. I have a nvidia gt260 card, so it should handle the second monitor without any problems.

I was looking at the Asus vh222h / vh226h but both are out of stock.

Neither have a 'due in stock XX' on them, so I guess I'm on to looking for alternatives. So please, suggest me a good monitor :D I have approx 180 budget, but could stretch to 200 if it is really worth it.

Thanks!

Thats true but I'm living in Ireland and finding a company that ships as relaibly and actually has decent choice is a pain. None of the usual Irish places have them monitors and if I can I would rather not go for a random company with unreliable deliveries. I can only be in to collect 1 maybe 2 days a week due to working hours so being able to pick a deliver slot is really helpful for me.

I have a VH226H and love it.
One thing that confuses me about your post is that you sound like you are going use your pretty poor (no offence :p ) generic monitor for gaming and the VH226H for other crap??
Definately use the VH226H for gaming!:
Brightness (cd/m2) of DMG: 500cd/m2 - VH226H: 300cd/m2
Contrast Ratio of DGM: 1000:1 - VH226H: 12,000:1
Response time of DGM 6ms - VH226H: 2ms

Valid arguement? :p

*edit* you've made me want to get a second VH226H or a 24" now!

Sammy: 12,000:1

Surely thats the dynamic numbering?

No idea why i initially referred to it as a Sammy
Anyway, one site refers to it as having 10,000:1 Typical CR
A review about it says this:
Advanced Video Technologies for Exceptional Visuals ASCR (ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio) Technology automatically adjusts the luminance of the backlight for better displays according to the image contents, and improves the contrast ratio to 12000:1 – resulting in more realistic depictions of night scenes during games or movies
And rated it 10/10.

Oh and don't get the VH222H because the VH226H is the newer revision of it.

*edit* havign another look yeah that is the dynamic numbering.

Haha, well fair point I guess! I mentioned using the DGM one as it is the only one I have. I wonder if maybe getting 2 of them and using them dual screen would be a good idea. With two monitors I doubt I would miss out on the 2" on one of them and they do sound like really nice monitors.

A mighty fine plan, but then I would be somewhat without a monitor in the meantime :P I can afford to get two new 24" if I felt the need/worth, I was just trying to be a bit budget conscious, as any money I don't spend can go into the pc upgrade fund ;)
