Ive posted this thread all over ubuntu forums, waiting for a response, but thought i might as well ask here too. Im trying to get dual screens working on my computer, but at the moment i just get the same screen repeated on both my monitors. Does anyone have any ideas??? Here is my xorg.conf file

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf(5) manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

There are a few ways of getting a dual head set up configured - Xinerama, TwinView (part of the nVidia driver - thus no use to you!), MergedFB and BigScreens (part of the ATI driver...)

Try adding to the ServerLayout section
Code:
Option "Xinerama" "True"
Screen 0 "Default Screen" 0 0
Screen 1 "aticonfig-Screen[0]" RightOf "Default Screen"

EDIT: found some stuff which may be useful to you...

ATI Big-Desktops thread

Radeon driver thread - covers both Xinerama and MergedFB.

Thanks for the help guys, got them working after a while, although the mouse cursor doesn't work all that great on the second screen, keeps lagging, really weird

If anyone knows of a fix please let me kno

Thanks for the help peeps

I think i tried using the aticonfig to set up for me, but it didnt work setting up the BigDesktop for me and no idea if it will work for xinerama

At the moment I'm having massive problems trying to sort out my set-up to handle XGL with the 2 screens

Sum1 said my graphics card is compatable with the ati drivers and then i can use AIGLX - dunno if this will solve anything

Heres the link, if anyone has any ideas please just let me know, im gettin desperate to try and get compiz-fusion to work
