My mate has one TFT but wants to have 2 setup and running.

What does he need to get 2 TF's up and running? He is going to buy another TFT but what about graphics cards and setting up dual monitors? Any advice would be great.

Not sure yet but i think he has an AGP slot in his PC but is using onboard graphics at the mo.

I am a complete noob about this so need as much info as possible. Many thanks.

OK to get a good picture you need a graphics card with 2 DVI outputs and to use TFT's with DVI inputs. At this screen size using VGA gives a noticebly fuzzy image, it looks especially bad if put side by side with a DVI conneced panel. However not sure how many of the AGP cards out there have 2 DVI ports - be careful some card desciptions are misleading or ambiguous on this point.
@ work we mount 2 22" TFT's on a dual mount stand for a better aesthetic http://www.ergotron.com/tabid/391/language/en-GB/default.aspx

What about setting the dual TFT's up? Any pointers as to how, regarding software?

So, i think my mate has a VGA connection on his TFT. How does he get past that? Buy another VGA TFT or what? Ta

Well if both tft's are on the same card.. both ATi and Nvidia make it very simple from their respective control panels as does Windows, personally I like Ati's control best. VGA works just fine and works alongside dvi just fine, its just not as nice to look at. Onboard graphics often don't play nice with a 2nd monitor on a card or in some cases are disabled.

So, get a card with 2 connections on it, 2 TFT's, then windows will pick up dual screens straight away? Any setting up of the software to be done? How?

mostly you just have to tell it where the screens are positioned (so it makes sense when you move your mouse from one screen to another) and what to display i.e the same screen twice or an extended desktop

Dual monitors is so easy to setup

Plug monitors into a respective graphics port
Open display properties - settings
Both monitors should appear, one will be slightly greyed out
Click on this monitor, then check the box that says "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"
Choose the res for the 2nd monitor
Done

Simple

In addition, to change the monitors round (i.e. swap left and right if they come up wrong) drag one of them past the other in display properties.

This card ok to run 2 x 19" standard TFT's:

Sapphire X1650Pro 512MB DDR2 VGA DVI TV Out AGP Graphics Card

Plus, both TFT's have VGA so one would fit ok. The other would need a VGA>DVI Convertor. That would still work ok? Thanks guys
