Can anyone highlight the main differences between Dual channel and Tri channel RAM. I am looking to build an i7 system but I am unsure wether to go for a Dual Channel or Tri Channel motherboard.
Tri Channel kits are designed for Nehalem i7's, as they have a triple channel IMC, if you're using an X58/i7 system you'll want tri channel RAM, but if you're using P55/i7 system then you'll want a dual channel kit.
The modules are exactly the same in both kits, there is no difference between the actual modules..
So the main differences are quite simply, dual channel comes with 2 sticks, and tri channel comes with 3!!!
