hey guys got vista ultimate retail as well as xp on a partioned hdd.

can i instal a 2nd copy of vista on her partion so i have vista on dual boot, if i can how do i go about renaming the partitions as in xp i just edited boot.ini file

many thanks

she has all the messenger crap running and stuff like that just happier for her to have her side and me my side.

As Rebelious says, just create a user account and setup a password for your account. Surely installing a second version of Vista on the computer is just asking for trouble.

Also, if you are sharing your PC with someone else, you will need to reboot just to access your info. Would it not be easier to just log off and back on again? I guarantee you will get No swearing! off with rebooting all the time!

I'd agree. Your user account doesn't have to have messenger (or anything else) in the startup folder.

would installing 2 copies on the same computer even work? might get trouble at activation and for updating windows because it might see it as two different identical computers or something.

is it permitted under the license even?

If you change the security on the relevant folders then no one else would be able to access them but you...
