Hey folks currently I have the team force 8 pack edition 3600mhz 4x8gb DDR4 (only purchased 5 months ago) sticks which is dual channel. I was thinking on making the leap to Threadripper but I see its quad channel board, can something explaine to me if my ram will work and will it still be dual channel? Or perhaps can it run in quad mode? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

Yeah you'll run fine in quad mode, all you need is 4 sticks.

Bad time to move to Threadripper though. ZEN 2 is likely to bring 16c32t to their mainstream platform and Threadripper platform due Zen 2 based cores and platform update to PCI-E 4 this year.

Cheers,
Funny you say that, that's what I hear alright. Might be best holding off for a bit then you recon?

I'm waiting myself. I bought an X399 board but sent it back as Zen 2 is likely to be more than enough on the mainstream platform for my use.
It would most likely do me also however ive started doing more video projects and i have upped all my equipment to 4k and was thinking thread ripper would suit me and then with this ram for now until i can afford more.

Dual channel with run in a quad board just if you want quad you will need 4 sticks of ram rather than 2. Remember to space your ram so there's an empty slot between them so they are on the same channel
