dual x5650 setup

Probably not. More cores are not what you want for gaming.

In 5 years time x5650 will be 10 years old. 10 years ago dual core Xeons were just coming out, I don't think someone with two of those will be having a great time playing games at the moment.
 
Seeing as how most games are GPU bound, I'd guess it would serve pretty well. There is no game that I run that even comes remotely close to taxing my CPU.
