Sony has announced the DualShock 3 controller, complete with rumble feature, will be released in Australia on April 24th.

It'll cost AUD 99.95, equivalent to GBP 47 / EUR 59. In the US the controller is priced at USD 54.99 (GBP 28 / EUR 35).

So can we expect a similar mark-up when DualShock 3 hits Europe? Sony's keeping quiet for now, and there's no word on a release date either.

"The date in the Australian press release refers to the Australian market only," the company said in a statement.

"Whilst DS3 will come to all SCEE territories at some point, at the moment we are not in a position to announce exactly when or confirm a price."

Ouch, was going to wait but if that's anything to go by I think it's import time !

A well-known retailer here in the UK has them in stock (and has had for a while) for £40 (exc delivery). Still cheaper to import though.

I'm gonna place my bets @ 39.99 rrp, I hope I'm wrong though, I just can't see Sony pricing it the same as the old sixaxis controller.

I expect that now too, I checked a retailer who has operations in the U.S and Australia and they sell the sixaxis at 49.99 in US, 54.99 for dualshock 3 a 10% difference, they sell the sixaxis for 79.95 in Australia, so assuming they sell it for the SRP as they do in U.S. thats a 20% markup.

10% for us would hit 38.50 which sint going to happen
20% for us would hit 42.00 (41.99 =P) which is an akward number, I think they'll go for 39.99 I cant see them trying it on at 44.99.

Of course then if you take off expected online retailer discounting it may indeed be 35.....

tbh cant see them pricing it that high over here when you look at prices for the competitions controllers...

xbox360 .. £32 for wireless
wii ... £32 (although you then have another £18 for a nunchuk too)

I don't think that makes a difference tbh, the PS3 is a more expensive console, the games in general are more expensive, I don't see how the pad being a few quid more is going to make much difference, anyway it's only RRP pricing anyway, you'll always get it cheaper online.

Just seen them in an online store i use regually for £36.99 thats both the white and black models. seems pretty cheap, may have to buy myself one. :p

Glad I made the decision to import, picked it up from the post office today and gave it a quick test :) I can't see it being any cheaper than £32 quid anyway so seems the best way to do it really.

Just bought 2 of these for £65 from a USA import shop. The sixaxis are going on ebay for around £20 so if it only costs me £25 to 'upgrade' it's not too bad, but it's still crap.

They will probably retail here for £35.
