Anyone live in Dubai on here, probably are tbh - either that or have good knowledge of the place?

Just got back from a 2 week holiday out there, lovely and hot and although we did visit that massive mall place, mainly it was a case of do nothing but pools/sea with the kids... the sea is the hottest ive been in, beating Indian Ocean and Carib hands down!

Anyway the questions at hand are:

1 - Why are there so many, and I mean many skyscrapers etc that are just part built and look desolute?

And 2 - im sure I saw a billboard with a price of 49K AED for a 1 bed apartment, now is that a realistic price for something like that out there and is that the sort of place that is rentable? I mean 49,000 AED is just shy of 10k English... is that how cheap the place is?

Cheers for any pointers.

Money dried up for them in 2007/8 and it crashed, IE it was the Dubai version of the housing crisis.

Such small prices are the only way they are getting people to go and live there.
