Hey guys, just built a new 3800+ system for my brother in law, got two 512 sticks of 3200 and after installing XP 32 it started freezing, the following happened;

1) Installed XP 32
2) Freezing even in BIOS
3) CMOS clear
4) reseated all components
5) took out 1 stick of ram, seemed to boot fine, installed BF2 ran ok for ~1/2 hour
6) Swapped the stick over for the other 512, system ran fine, didnt think to check BF2
7) Put both sticks back in, system runs fine, benchmarks ok
8) Run BF2 Computer completely resets after ~30 secs of gameplay
9) CMOS clear, reseat memory, install vista 64
10) Sytem running fine, install BF2, resets pc after ~30 secs of gameplay, benchmark crashes
11) Remove one stick of ram, BF2 still freezes after ~30 sec gameplay
12) Swap sticks, BF2 runs fine (as fine as it can on vista with 512mb lol) for 30 mins.

What do you think is up with it? It doesnt seem completely fried systme still posts with it, but doesnt seem to like working either. Dont have time tonight but will probably bang some of the memory from my other PC to give it a try. Anycase seems I need to get it replaced.

Another reason I'm posting, just wonder if anyone has any good memory testing software to reccomend?

Hi,

Best thing to do, download a program called memtest86+ burn the little image to a cd, place the cd in your pc and boot from it, it is a highly recongized memory checking tool that will push your memory and find any faults with it. i would try 1 stick at a time and find out if you have a faulty stick or if in fact both are faulty if they are then send them back for a replacement, most computer shops that do system testing that i know of use memtest to check all memory.
