I have just purchased a new motherboard, RAM and CPU. However upon installing I turned the computer on to find that none of the devices plugged into the motherboard are actually working. For example the monitor does not switch on, it says that it cannot find an input signal. So I swapped a stick of RAM from my old machine into my new one and it booted up fine. This may be a stupid question but is it safe to say that the new RAM I bought is dud? The new RAM is 1 stick of 1GB DDR400 and the motherboard says it can support a max of 2GB of DDR400 and it only has two slots, so therefore I think it is safe to say that it cannot be down to the motherboard not being able to accept single sticks of 1GB. Any help is appreciated.
