Due an upgrade (androids plz!)

I wasn't passing an opinion. I have a Nexus, a lot of my friends have Desires, I win on the geek points. :p I'd honestly decide based on which you prefer the look of.

The hardware is essentially the same.

your point is ? read my post again.

thanks

yes i did. hence the CURRENTLY bit:p

some people are too quick to insult people and should actually read posts before they make themselves look dumb

Ah they switched them cause of the shortage, well that sucks for future desire owners.

The Desire has more RAM – 576MB versus the Nexus One’s 512MB .

Desire I think also has more dev support, along with Sense-UI , I think the Nexus is old hat.

61MB extra ram isn't something I'd base my phone decision on. And since the Desire will be running Sense UI it will use up more ram anyway. Saying the N1 is 'old hat' is stupid. Desire & N1 are the same phone!

It seems instant until you try a Nexus ;)

It's not the sense UI stuff which is necessarily slow, it's the general performance of the phone.

Best Android phone atm is the Galaxy S imo, bigger screen super amoled over just a amoled which does make a big differnce having both, the HD video is 30fps solid on the Galaxy S and looks way better.

@ Microwave that's rubbish when i had a Desire with stock android or sense ui no difference in performance, having played on my mates Nexus one I saw no difference.

The Samsung Galaxy S is the 'best' technically. It does slightly resemble an iPhone 3GS but it is far, far better and has a far, far better screen (which makes up half of the phone) :p

If you want the Sense UI, get the Desire, if you don't care and think you can get something as good as Sense running anyway via ROMs, get the Nexus One.

The HTC Sense UI is very under-rated and more people than not would want it, its excellent. It makes very little difference in performance to the phone on the 2.2 ROM considering all the extra stuff you get.

As you've already got the iPhone 4 get something a bit different (i.e. a bigger screen )
Wait for the Desire HD or get a Dell Streak now [/evil laugh] Is it on vodafone yet?

...and the fact that its just trying to be an iPhone, well, meh.

I thought the iPhone 4 was just a Galaxy S in drag? :D

Not a chance in hell, the Galaxy S feels cheap, the iPhone might me a locked down platform, and have issues, but it "feels" premium.

I agree with you there, if you are paying £600 for something, it needs to feel like £600 in your hand. The iPhone 4 does.

I was using an iPhone 4 the other day when my friends dragged me into the Apple shop... it's nothing special. Does not feel like £600 worth of phone, and there's some pretty lazy designing going on in all honesty.

Some really silly comments. The Nexus One is the dev phone.

Cyanogen the best mod community uses the Nexus One as the flagship device. In addition, google has heavily invested in the N1 as a phone for developers.

Old hat? We'll see which phone gets Gingerbread months before the Desire.

Well you can get the galaxy S for about £300 soo...

I know that, my point was at least the iPhone 4 feels quality, it really really has to at its (very high) price.

Samsung have in all honesty skimped on materials and have made something great, that feels cheap (doesn't bother me personally but it does most people) and wears away easily.

For me the worrying factor is how Android phones seem to drop in price, i sold my Galaxy S for £370 3 weeks ago and got the I4, now you can pick a GS up for £300 mark what will it be worth in a month.

You only have to look at the Xperia X10 very expensive phone when it came out and now can be had for just over £200 on the bay and that's 3G money and who in there right mind would use them now.

If the Desire used stock android it would get it much sooner it takes time for HTC to port it over to sense ui that's the only real reason.
