Lol.
Found a few old games i used to play on today.

But none will work, they all just get to about the options page, and then either give a blue screen error message, or just crash to the desktop.
The games being Unreal Tournament 2003, Battlefield 1942.

I had a look at the requirements for the games, and my system should play them at full graphics etc just fine. Im not even able to get as far as the game itself, just the opening menu, then it crashes.

The requirements are along the lines of, 700Mhz cpu, 128Mb ram, 32Mb video card.

And i have a Athlon Xp1900(1.6Ghz), 512Mb ram, 128Mb Ge force Ti.

Anyone got any ideas why none of the games will work.
Im running windows XP pro, latest graphics, mainboard drivers etc.

:)

Im using the Original XP Pro, no service packs etc.
All of the games are original too(i.e. std, not patched)

Hmm, just tried Soldier Of Fortune 2, got through the loading screens.
Got the game screen.

XP pops up an error message, this program has a problem and needs to be shut down, blah blah.

Its going my head in now, lol.
I use to play these games with no problems on my AMD duron 600Mhz system with a Voodoo 3 graphics card :D :p
Lol

I've installed the latest graphics, sound, mobo drivers.

Might try XP sp2.

Funny you say Ram, as i have 1x 128, 1x256, 1x 128Mb.
And i remember a while back when i fitted the third stick, 128mb, the system has never seemed as stable as it did when i only had 1x 128, and 1x 256.

Perhaps the last 128 i fitted isn't working right.
Might get a cheap 512Mb module, and put that in the place of the last 128mb one.

See if that helps.

Just got a few more crashes trying to play,Lol.

Noted down some of the blue screen messages:-

Win32k.sys(on a blue screen crash)

Nv4_disp

Also got this message when it rebooted:-
Errormessage.jpg

Hope its not the video card thats starting to die  :(

-Get windows fully updated (sp2 and subsequent updates)
-Patch all the games to the latest version
-Update your graphics driver: ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/84.25/84.25_forceware_winxp2k_english.exe

Is your system stable for other games?

I downloaded the latest driver yesterday.
Its 84.21 on mine. Probably not worth updating to 84.25.

No the system isn't stable for any games, lol. It crashes on every game I install and attempt to play.

The system is stable when doing any other activity, playing music, burning dvds etc etc.

Its crashed on UT2003, Mafia, Soldier of Fortune 2, Battlefield 1942, Command and Conquer Generals.

It always seems a bit jerky on games, then it goes smooth and you think all is ok, then it either crashes to the desktop, or the picture freezes, or shows up a bluescreen error.

Its not overheating or anything either, CPU temp is only 34c whilst playing games. And i have plenty of case fans, case temp is about 27c.

THe system could probably do with formatting and a clean install of windows, i think my install is about 3/4 years old, and has had a lot of things installed/uninstalled etc.

Cheers for the help.
