Hi all
i have been trying to get dungeon keeper 2 working on my pc(see sig) in hardware mode but am just having no luck. The game boots fine but all i end up with is either a black screen and menu options or mainly a black screen and a few blocks for gfx. I have tried lots of different thing etc:compatabilty tab/latest patch and even a unofficial patch but with no joy.

I even tried on my brothers quad core with a 5970 and w7 ultimate but he has the excact same issues i do.
He also tried it on a virtual machine and went as far as to change the config through regedit inside the virtual machine and we managed to get hardware working but apart from the text on menus the screen was all black.

Software mode seems relativley ok on my bros pc(not mine)apart from some flashing around the screen and the mouse cursor

Im just throwing this out there in case anyone can suggest something i may have forgotten about or overlooked.

Heres hoping and thanks in advance

Patch up to v1.7, search for DK2 compatibility v1.8 patch, should then work on Win7/Vista without issue, well it does for me... :)

Yeah unofficial patch v1.8

GFX cards I've tried and had no problems with the game; GTX260, GTX470, GTX580, Mobility ATi 4670 1GB, systems all running Win7 64bit with XP SP3 compatibility mode enabled for DK2 .Exe :)

Hmm i was thinking could maybe just be a ati problem as thats the only thing me and my bro share in common except his is a 5970 but i see you used a 4670

im just out of ideas????????????????????

I think the unofficial patch had some additional notes on possible solutions if you run into problems, other than that I can't help further :(

The VM we tied it in was running XP and we couldn't get it to work. The 1.8 patch I have has only a changelog for 1.73 and is 200 megs big. That soound like the right one?

run in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode, disable aero/desktop whatever it's called and run in admin mode. Been playing it for the last few days in hw mode 1024x768 without one crash on Win7 64 following above. This is with 1.7 patch.
If still having problems then add -softwarefilter to the exe.
