And so it begins... Again.

Gearbox Software's long-in-the-making action game's release date now pegged for June 10 debut internationally, June 14 in North America.

In January, 2K Games and Gearbox Software did the unthinkable: The publisher/developer duo slapped a May 3 release date on the elusive Duke Nukem Forever. Now, that date appears to have been a bit ambitious.

In a very sarcastic Gearbox Software video released today (embedded below), studio president Randy Pitchford announced Duke Nukem Forever's new release dates. The game will arrive internationally on June 10 (the day after the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo wraps up) and on June 14 in North America.

I am so looking forward to this, as well. :(

Is anyone really that bothered about it though! In its day it was ok, but I have my reservations as to quite what this version will be. I bet there'll be no demo for this either...

The whole point is that this isn't supposed to be some ground-breakng new shooter, pushing gameplay boundaries and wowing the new generation - it's a nostalgia trip, a return to the old classic. Strange as it sounds, people aren't going to be buying this game because it's a great game, they're going to be buying it because it's Duke - as long as there's plenty of Duke in it (and by all accounts there should be - packed full, start to finish) the target fanbase is going to be happy.

Saying that, this post would probably go down better in the PC version. I've no doubt that there are hordes of Duke fans intending to buy DNF on 360 or PS3, but if they do the game right, I'm convinced that the loudest condemnations will come from the console market.

I'd imagine there would also be a fair few Duke fans on the consoles. I first played Duke Nukem 3d on my PS1 many years ago :D.

Indeed, trying to perv at the girls even with the terrible graphics it had (by todays standard)

OMG A NIPPLE

That'd be fair enough if this was going to be a budget release, but its not. People will expect more than just a bit of nostalgia. Certainly wont be a day one (when ever that is) buy for me, maybe a few months after release.

I played Duke 3D on 10 Floppy Disks in my first PC - a Pentium 133Mhz... I am the target audience

:p

As much as I love Duke, I have a feeling this game is going to be yet another run of the mill 5/10 shooter. :(

its down to take2 publishing not meeting the sales figures for the quarter. so they push the release back to make the next quarter look better. same happened last year also with red dead redemption and mafia 2
