Dull buzzing/humming sound intermittently from PC

Titan Xenomorph system but with 1GB Gigabyte GTX 460. Spec below:

- Power Supply: Corsair Extreme 600W
- CPU: Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz Clarkdale overclocked to 4.20GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte H55M-UDH2 Intel H55 (Socket 1156) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
- Cooler: Akasa Venom CPU Cooler
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

Can you hear it in the video? Because when I play back the video on my PC, I can hear the sound from the PC as well - so its hard to tell if the video picked it up or if its my actual PC! lol

Any thoughts as to what the hell it could be?

*EDIT* I have tried moving the HDD around in various different bays, hasn't helped. :(

i had the same sort of issue with my old lian li case and i narrowed it down to my hard drives, that humming aint easy to get rid of

Interesting. Mine started developing a similar drone sound recently, since I've been fiddling with bits inside the case. Weird wavering humming noise. Ironic really, as the HDs are suppose to be noise-free, being mounted on rubber grommets, and I'm going for 'quiet'.

I would be more inclined towards some case fans and sympathetic resonance, but who knows.

Its very annoying. I'm moving house Monday and have a new desk, will definitely be putting this bad boy on the floor instead of up on the desk where its right next to my head! lol

I just wanted to double check its not something that could potentially be a problem. i.e. something failing!

Suspend those drives with bungee elastic or clothing elastic. It's surprising how much resonance and vibration a HDD can cause.

If it is the hard drive isn't it quite odd for it to start making strange noises now? I've had the PC for a few weeks, then out of nowhere it starts!

I had similar when I had 2 hard drives installed, a 320gb and a 1tb, wound me up so I dissconected the 320gb and it was fine, but if you only have the one drive it rules out 2 or more drives resonating.

hmmm it could be coming from a fan. do you get a lot of dust in your house.

coming from experience, i used a hover and some duster buster air spray and i cleaned the old pc out.... god the dust i got and when i switched it on again {half hour later} the thing was near silence again. {my pc is 4 yr old.}

take a fan out one at a time and see if that is where the problem is.

on another note, have you tried using a blanket inside the pc... {when i mean blanket i mean the thin 3mm stuff that you can stick inside the case walls to dampen the noise}

check the below links fo mods for the case to make it quieter. might be good to invest.
