Just put some Teamgroup 3200-CL14 DDR4 into my 12900k system, if I set the XMP profile to it's standard value it won't post.

However, if I go into the memory settings and manually enter the values for the frequency, voltage and timings - is there any difference between that and XMP?

have you tried a bios update as McNumpty suggested yet?

Yeah I'll get on the latest Bios tonight actually.

I was going to do that anyway, I was just curious to know what the actual difference is between using XMP vs entering the values manually, because there clearly is a difference I just don't know what it is.

Yeah so I updated the bios - no change, won't post with XMP but will allow me to enter the values manually..

It's pretty normal for new stuff
To get multiple bios. Updates usually
Some will. Be specifically for improving memory compatibility
Would just keep checking for new bios update regularly

Yeah no worries - i'll keep checking for new Bios's and give it a go, system is running awesome anyway, I was more just curious about the differences,,

But all good :)
if you enter exactly the same settings manually
as xmp has
not sure there is a difference
main thing is its running great though:)
