I'm after a cheap and small dumb phone with the ability to bluetooth music to a car stereo, is there any other option than a Nokia 222 that I've seen at £25 new?

Also whilst I'm here, is the option of the old fashioned PAYG still around, where you just topped up your credit as and when you need it? All I seem to find is this rolling contract nonsense at say £5/10 p/m, which isn't really PAYG...

anything made after 2008 will do this fairly well (codec dependant) - do you have any old phones around you could replace the battery of to quickly refresh them? the rolling payg stuff etc... you're just going to need to find the right tariff. Most of them have a benefit if you roll but otherwise the credit can be used against fixed price items outside of the allotted month.

The only old phone I have kicking about is a Nokia, but it is from before the days of bluetooth audio and removable storage, from memory it's a 2630.

Just logged on to my phone account and out of my last monthly allowance of 250/5000/500mb I used 2 minutes call, 18 texts and 50mb of data, so the contract isn't worth keeping.

Most of them have a benefit if you roll but otherwise the credit can be used against fixed price items outside of the allotted month.

Sorry for being dumb but I don't get this bit.

Have a look at the EE Rook, on sale at and seems like it would be 35 quid all in with your initial top up. Just not sure if that top up auto renews or if you can cancel it
