Is there any problem using two dual channel kits e.g 2 x (4GBx2)=16GB

Does it then just run as QUAD channel?

Or should I just buy a 2x 8GB dual channel kit

I like the look of filled out ram slots just thinking ahead:)

Looking to go Teamgroup/8pack can't decide between 3200Mhz kit 4x 4GB or 3600Mhz kit 2x 8GB

Don't know why it's taken me this long to work this out I usually buy RAM and shove it in and pray hehe

I have always wondered this, and did some research - there is no guarantee of compatibility, and therefore occasional glitches.

I have frequently mixed RAM for several years and the only time I had RAM issues. that were significantly annoying, was when the overclock was too high, or the RAM was actually faulty!

Depends - if they are same batch, etc. shouldn't be any issues at all - sometimes you will find some small variation in sub-timings, etc. though which can throw things off and occasionally a change in the actual ICs used which can cause incompatibilities.

95% of the time it will be fine - especially if they are bought from the same retailer at the same time. It's more likely to be an issue if you buy a second kit further down the line, as parts can and do change over time based on availability.

what's the sweet spot for Coffeelake (i5 8600k) I'm thinking 3200 to 3600mhz max if the CPU overclock is not to be limited in any way?

Will be running a GTX 1080
