Dumb question - can I give ps5 game for Xmas?

Answer is it depends, there are a few variants but only one has a disc drive as standard (But for the others there is an optional disk drive you can buy if you can ever find one for about 100 quid)

Easiest thing to do would be to ask his parents to have a look for you? If he doesn't have a disc one then you could get him PSN credit to buy the game digitally, although this is often more expensive.
That said, you can often save money on the PSN (playstation network) credit. For example at a place like shopto, I recently bought £100 credit and, I think paid 87 quid.

IF you got a disc edition then you good otherwise you not good as other people have already said :) - I have a disc copy of Astro Bot (its the only game I have) :cry:

Not going to lie the disc is clearly an after thought and Sony could/should have done some dampening or something on the ps5 as when you do stick a disk in it sounds like its going to take off!

the disc drive add-on is pretty quiet on the ps5 pro, don't know about the slim but I imagine it's similar. the OG disc ps5 is loud though!

you can buy PSN top-up cards instead so he can buy a digital game on the ps store.... if you aren't sure about the disc drive situation.
even cheaper if you just buy the codes online and not the actual cards, eg shopto discount them quite a bit.

I have a slim and a 2 big bois atm... my slim if standing up.... jeeesus! The big original ones are also just loud... Whats funny is I had my mk1 mega cd out today playing some sonic cd and you cant hear it, like at all... you cant hear it spin up, its just silent in operation! Thats a 30 year old bit of kit and its quiet as a mouse, surely new disc drives could just be silent as well.
