Hi my new system is up and running as in my sig, just wanted to know I don't need a dual core patch or anything for windows do I ? Im using Windows XP SP2 if that helps....

As far as I know, no. If you hit ctrl+alt+del you'll see that windows recognises it as two processors.

Like sull ays, goto processes in task manager. Right click one and if it says (if memory serves) "Set affinity" then you'll know it's recognised both cores. :)

Yeah it has recognised both so all is good :)

Yeah Alan, I upgraded from an xp2200+, Gigabyte GA-7VAX, 512 ddr, 9800 pro so Quite a big step to be honest, lol. And I tell you what, its been worth every penny, although I need to reseat my CPU as the temp is pretty high 48-50 when idle!

No patches, or drivers required for support of intel dual core processors in XP. AMD's X2's technically dont need a driver either, however I believe their power saving features are not fully functional without the driver, and some gamers seem to have less problems with some patches and drivers installed.

But as you have Intel Core 2 there should be nothing required on your system for performance, reliability or power saving features. Enjoy your chip :)
